Speaker’s Announcement

Garbage, solid municipal waste, trash, urban composite biomass, pre-compost material, crap….   Call it what you will, it’s not routinely thought of as a "green" energy source.  Wind, solar, fission, fusion, fuel cells, hydrogen, hydroelectric, even geothermal sound so much more ……sustainable and not nearly so ….well, uckky!  So, you might be surprised to find out how much potential fuel and financial value you and I and Los Angeles and the world dump out our doors every day.

The presenters will share this information with you and describe how they evaluated a way to turn a figurative pig’s ear into a silk purse (No lipstick references cited!) - using existing technologies. We’ll describe our recently patent-approved pyrolytic process to recover syngas from the aforementioned material.  In addition, we will discuss our four-year journey ushering the proposal through the U.S. Patent Office – a story that may be just as interesting to any potential inventors in the audience.

Remember to examine your dinner left-overs carefully because after this talk, you may never consider them in the same way again!  The Los Angeles County Section (aka: Southern California Section) of American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) has coordinated this presentation for the October 28, 2008 joint meeting with the Orange County Section.
